Technology Class Mission:

Technology is not going away!  Our mission is to learn to use computers safely and responsibly to find, organize, and present information.  To be successful, we need to listen, explore, follow directions, help each other, and learn to type well.

Information & Technology Clarifying Objectives

This curriculum is taught by media, technology and classroom teachers to prepare students for the 21st century skills they will be required to use in everyday life and the workforce.  The wording of each standard has been adjusted into "I can" statements so they are easier for students to understand.

Standard 1: Sources of Information

K-1

I can identify sources of information (print, non-print, electronic, people).

I can figure out the right source to use for a certain task.

I can tell when a source is the right source for a certain task.

I can tell whether a source is current or not current.

I can tell which resources are appropriate and which are not appropriate for different tasks.

I can tell which resources are reliable and which are not reliable.

 

4-5

I can use different types of resources to gather information (including those in print and online media).

I can use relevant sources of information for an assigned task.

I can use reliable sources of information. (Google is usually not a reliable starting point.)

 


 

Standard 2: Informational Text

K

I can tell what fiction and non-fiction mean.

I can tell which resources have factual information I need.
