Updated Dress Code Information

DRESS CODE

NB Mills has a dress uniform policy where students are required to wear uniforms.  The uniform states all articles of clothing must be a solid color with no stripes, embellishments, screening, embroidering, large print, or graphics on tops or bottoms.  School logos will be permitted on tops.  The Uniform Dress Code Policy will be in effect during the school day at all times when students are on campus or while on any school related activity.  The Uniform Dress Code is not required for evening events such as PTO events, Open House, athletic events, etc.  Uniforms will not be required for Picture Days. Any non-uniform day will be planned and announced in advance.

Shirts, blouses, and all tops will be of solid color.  They may be white, navy, red, or burgundy.  Golf type pullover shirts with collars (also known as polo shirts), button up shirts with collars (also known as oxford shirts), turtlenecks, round necks (also know as crew neck/t-shirts) are permitted. Sleeveless attire (such as tank shirts, spaghetti strapped tops, etc.) are not permitted.  Again, embellishments, large print, screening, etc. are not allowed.  Grades 3-5 must tuck in shirts if shirtfalls below student’s wrist.

Sweaters, sweatshirts, vests, and fleece pullovers that are worn in the classroom must be solid white, navy, red, or burgundy.  Again, please no stripes, large print, embellishments, etc.

Students must wear solid khaki, navy, or black pants or shorts.  All bottom wear must be hemmed or cuffed.  Skirts, skorts, Capri pants, overalls, dresses, or jumpers may be worn.  All bottom wear must be worn at the waist.  Clothing that does not meet the dresscode are blue bluejeans, blue bluejean shorts, leggings worn alone, tightpants, baggy or wide leg pants, oversized or blue denim overalls.  Khaki and black jeans/denims are permitted.  Rolling up one pantleg is not permitted.  Frayed, cutoffs, or torn apparel should not be worn.

Socks need to be solid color, of uniform colors (black, navy, khaki and white), and worn under pant legs.  Socks should not be mismatched, striped, embellished,etc.  Leggings may be worn underskirts, skorts, and dresses, but they must be solid and dress uniform colors (black, navy, khaki, or white).

Only close-toed shoes are allowed for student safety onstairs and daily PE class.  The following are not permitted: flip flops, wheels, sandals, crocs, high heels, etc. 

Hats, caps, toboggans, hoods, wave caps, scarves, bandannas, combs, or any other head wear are not to be worn in the building.  Sweatbands may not be worn on the head, neck, arms, wrists, or legs.

New students enrolling during the year will have a ten day school day grace period.  After this time, the student is expected to be in compliance.  All rising and returning students should be in compliance with the uniform dress code policy the opening day of school each year.
