NEW VIDEO: September Teacher Feature

 

 

This month our Teacher Feature shines the spotlight on Miss Whitney Denton from Statesville High School.  Miss Denton teaches AP Government, Civics, Psychology and Sociology.  In her six years since joining Iredell-Statesville Schools, Miss Denton says she watched the I-SS model continue to evolve, saying the model is now something teachers are able to be creative with and use in a way that best benefits students.  Miss Denton's class was recently highlighted during a visit by administrators from Cornerstone Charter Academy in Detroit, Michigan who were in the district to learn more about continuous improvement and data-driven decision making.  Miss Denton says she believes data analysis helps her to assess students and determine whether they are ready to move forward or whether she needs to review the material before going any further.  Miss Denton is just one of many teachers here in Iredell-Statesville Schools that goes outside the box to help students be successful.  Stay tune for next month's Teacher Feature as we continue to recognize our outstanding teachers.
