Board of Education Welcomes Gallyon

The Iredell-Statesville Schools Board of Education welcomed its newest board member at the July 9 meeting.  In front of family and friends, Chuck Gallyon was sworn in by Iredell County Clerk of Court Rena Turner.  This is Gallyon's first term as a board of education member, having defeated incumbent Keith Williams in the spring election.  Gallyon represents the 4th district, which includes Celeste Henkel Elementary School, Third Creek Elementary School, and South Iredell High School.

Also sworn in Monday night were incumbent board of education members Dr. David Cash (district 2) and Charles Kelly (district 6).  Cash was re-elected by the board to serve as chairman, while Kelly will begin his first term as the board's vice-chairman.

Board of education members serve four-year terms.  The next board of education election will be in 2014, when the seats for districts 1, 3, 5, and 7 are up for election.
