South Iredell Calls on Farmers for Grant Support

South Iredell High School is reaching out to local farmers for help to secure funding for science and math programs.

The school is asking parents and staff members to get out in the community and ask local farmers to nominate the district for the opportunity to compete for either a grant of $10,000 or $25,000 through Monsanto Fund’s America’s Farmers Grow Rural Education℠.

South Iredell is seeking funding for its aquaponics system.  Aquaponics is a sustainable food production system that uses both traditional aquaculture and hydroponics.

Grants will be awarded based on merit, need and community support. The more farmers to nominate the school district, the more it demonstrates community support and strengthens the application. Visit GrowRuralEducation.com for more information.
The deadline for farmer nominations is April 15, 2013.
