Mount Mourne School Counseling Mission Statement
The mission of the Mt. Mourne School Counseling program is to provide all students a comprehensive school counseling program which promotes the highest level of student achievement through growth in academic, career and personal/social domains. Through leadership, advocacy and collaboration, the school counselor will promote equity and a safe learning environment for all students. The comprehensive school counseling program will address student needs and promote global citizenship through culturally relevant prevention and intervention strategies.
I grew up in Greensboro, NC and earned my undergraduate degree (BA in Psychology) at The University of Georgia. After working in the corporate world and working as a the "Director the Childhood Development" at the Thompson household (aka "stay at home mom"), I decided to pursue my purpose and personal goal of becoming a professional school counselor. I recently earned my Master's degree in School Counseling from Capella University.
After living in the Atlanta metro area for 16 years, my family moved to Mooresville in June, 2012. My husband and I are the proud parents of two daughters and two four-legged boys. We absolutely love the Lake Norman area and are thankful to be part of such a wonderful community. My hobbies and interests include: all things UGA (Gooo Dawgs!), spending time with family & friends, my daughters' sporting events, swimming, reading (especially the Outlander series), projects which inspire creativity, and travel.
