Dear Nighthawk Nation,

My name is Tim Ivey, and I am ecstatic to be the principal of the highest ranked middle schools in North Carolina. Northview, an IB World School is an outstanding place and I am very proud of all of the incredible people who have contributed to this success.

I began working at Northview in April of 2012 and continue to be impressed by the people we have in this community. The students, teachers and staff, and families who make up the Nighthawk Nation have all been incredibly warm and welcoming. Our superintendent, Mr. Brady Johnson, continually says, “Northview has exceeded all expectations and brought much recognition and honor to the district in three short years.”  I can see why, and I am excited to be a part of this team.

I also wanted to tell you a bit about me. I am passionate about global education and have much experience with schools that operate non-traditional concepts, such as IB. For the last five years, I have spearheaded the federally-funded Small Learning Communities (SLC) initiatives that helped redesign our high schools. I began the SLC at South Iredell High School and then administered all five SLCs at the district level. I am a Statesville High School graduate and spent most of my teaching career at West Iredell High School where I taught Language A and coached cross country and track.

Most proudly, I am a father of two, Ethan and Marabel, and a husband of Windy Ivey.
