Warrior Band Mission Statement

Why we exist, our purpose, values, and nature

 

The mission of the West Iredell High School Warrior Band is to make a positive difference in the lives of the band members. We will provide musical and visual experiences and performances and assist our members in achieving their potential as they develop confidence, cooperation, leadership, responsibility, high standards of excellence and character. We are here to serve our members, school, and community through celebration and support. We are competitive only with ourselves and we delight in the success of others as well as our own. We are Warriors.

LeeAnna Ewing has been the director at West Iredell High School since July of 2007. Mrs. Ewing received her BS.Ed from Western Carolina University in May of 2007 graduating Cum Laude. Her principle instrument is flute which she studied with Dr. Eldred Spell and Mrs. Cindy Bruce. Mrs. Ewing also plays saxophone and took Susuki lessons on Violin. While attending Western Carolina University Mrs. Ewing was a member of the WCU Pride of the Mountains Marching Band under the direction of Mr. Bob Buckner and Mr. Matt Henley. Three of those years she marched piccolo while her senior year she marched in the colorguard. She also performed with the WCU Wind Ensemble under the direction of Dr. John West and the WCU Flute Ensemble under the direction of Dr. Eldred Spell. Mrs. Ewing is a member of MENC: The National Association for Music Education and attends their local annual conference in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Ewing is also a member of the international women's professional music fraternity Sigma Alpha Iota. Mrs. Ewings list of notable teachers include Bob Buckner, Matt Henley, Patrick Young, Martin Dickey, Dr. John West, Owen Bradley, Dr. Will Peebles, Dr. Eldred Spell, Cindy Bruce, Don Peach, Philip Morgan, Sharon Drum, and Wayne Freeman.
