Iredell-Statesville Schools believes participation in athletics is a valuable tool in drop-out prevention. Because of the importance of school athletics, the district is committed to ensuring all students receive the opportunity to participate in sports. Below are the guidelines the district uses in determining where students who attend non-traditional schools participate in athletics.
International Baccalaureate Programmes
-Middle school students at the I. B. middle years programmes will continue to play sports at their "home" school (the school in the district in which they live).
-Students participating in the I. B. program from Mooresville Graded Schools participate at Brawley Middle School
-I.B. students attending South Iredell High School will play sports at South Iredell High School. This is a NCHSAA rule and there are no exceptions to this rule.
-Students of I-SS return to their 'home' school for athletics due to the lack of athletic facilities available at Mitchell Community College
VPAC (For fulltime early college students only)
-Students participate in athletics at Statesville High School due to the location of the early college on Statesville High School's campus
Magnet Schools (Auto tech, part-time VPAC students only)
-Students return to their 'home' school for athletics
