About Me
Teaching is a second career for me. My undergraduate degree was a minor in business and a major in English with a communication arts emphasis instead of a teaching certificate because "I would NEVER teach." How things change!
Because I really enjoy the study of literature, I found a program at the University of South Carolina where I could enter the graduate program with the English department and then certify at the same time to teach 7th grade on up through the college level. By the way, it was hard!
So here I have been at Brawley since I graduated in 1995. I came to middle school because I was, and still am, very impressed with Brawley. I was going to England for the summer to study with the Shakespearean institute and happily left with a job upon my return.
I now live in Mooresville with my husband, my 6th grade daughter who is a student at Brawley , and our rescue dog, Jewels. We enjoy the lake and are also fortunate enough to have a cabin up on Beech Mountain where my daughter is on the ski team. Skiing is also my husband's and my favorite sport, so this works out well. We are up there every weekend during the ski season and also visit when we can during the other times of the year.
