Families will pick up their Danish homestay student from the airport late Saturday, Oct. 30 and will take them back to the airport early Sunday, Nov. 7th.- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - While Danish students are staying with our local families, they will live as though they were part of the family. Our visiting students have been taking classes to learn English, so they will be able to communicate with their families. The levels of communication may vary from student to student, but part of the reason for their visit is to learn more English. The Danish students will spend evenings and eat meals with their homestay family, join in family activities, and attend school everyday. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - During the week at school, the Danish students will attend classes with their homestay student. All of the students in the program will work together during this week on the project that will be presented in the spring. We are also planning a special treat for the Danish students and their hosts during that visitation week: a trip to Asheville and the Biltmore Estate. American and Danish students will pay a nominal fee to ride in together into the mountains and enjoy the day on the immense, beautiful grounds of the Biltmore Estate, before taking on the extensive tour. We will leave early that weekday morning and return late that evening. Don't forget your cameras for that trip! - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Finally, at the end of the week, we plan to put together a "Going Away" party for our new friends. With the help and support of the homestay families, this should be a wonderful, joyful, and perhaps a tearful, celebration for the time we shared together over the week. |
