Welcome to South Iredell High School Physical Education
My Classroom Mission
Our classroom mission is to work together to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities to develop a healthy, active lifestyle, as well as an understanding and respect for all classmates and cultures.
My name is Jim Blackwell. I teach Physical Education as part of the International Studies Program at South Iredell High School, and I am the head coach for the Varsity Boys Basketball team. This is my 9th year as a teacher and basketball coach in ISS. I am originally from Rochester, NY and attended SUNY Cortland where I recieved my B.S. in Physcial Education in 2001. I relocated to the Charlotte area in 2003 and currently live in Cornelius. Several family members live in the area and in my free time I enjoy spending time with them, attending church, playing golf, Panthers games, and Davidson & Duke basketball.
Physical Education at SIHS is centered around developing an active, healthy lifestyle for all students by promoting open-minded, caring, and respectful participants in a variety of activities.
This is an exciting year as well to be a part of the South Iredell Vikings community. A brand new, state of the art athletic complex with gymnasium, classrooms, weight room, and new field house were in use for the 2009-2010 season at SIHS. Vikings Football is coming off an undefeated season in 2010, and the 2012 NC 2AA State Championship! Girls & Boys Soccer and Volleyball are coming off of CVAC championship seasons. The basketball program will return a great, young core of players to compete for the CVAC championship in 2012-2013. Come out and be a part of the action and excitement... "Get your horns on"
