My Classroom Mission
I will create a positive and rigorous learning environment that promotes high student engagement by communicating goals and expectations to students, parents, and the community.
I am so excited for our year together! This is going to be a wonderful journey!
This is my ninth year teaching elementary school. I have worked as a reading specialist, a kindergarten, second, third, fifth, and first grade teaher. This year will be my second year teaching 4th grade. I can't wait!
I received my undergraduate degree in Business/Marketing from the State University of New York at Old Westbury. After that, I decided to become a teacher. That was the best thing I ever did! I continued my education at Queens College in New York where I earned my Masters Degree in Elementary Education. Then, I extended my education and transferred to Hofstra University in New York where I earned an advanced degree in Literacy Studies, Birth-12th grade.
On a more personal note, my husband's name is Michael. We have been married for 18 years! We have two daughters, Gianna and Alayna. Gianna is 17 years old and Alayna is 15 years old. They both keep us very, very busy. We also have a little dog named Spanky. My husband and I were born and raised on Long Island, New York. We started our family and careers there but decided to move to the wonderful state of North Carolina in August of 2007.
Some of my favorite things to do are run, take exercise classes, garden, decorate, shop, travel.....and to continue fueling my brain, I read a lot, both professionally and personally. I also love to be outside and my favorite seasons are the spring and the fall. My favorite place that I traveled to was Hawaii. WOW! What a beautiful place. I hope to be able to take my family to Italy someday.
Please sit back and enjoy this wonderful journey with me and your child!
