     After graduating from Alexander Central High School, I attended The University of North Carolina at Charlotte as a North Carolina Teaching Fellows Scholar.  My teaching career began in 1996 as a 7th grade math and science teacher at East Iredell Middle School.  This is my sixteenth year in the teaching profession, with 5 years devoted to seventh grade, four years devoted to fifth grade, four years devoted to third grade, and three years devoted to second grade.  My wife, Brooke, is a second grade teacher in Alexander County Schools.  We live in Taylorsville with our daughter, Meredith.
