About Ms. Westlund
Hello! My name is Ashley Westlund and I teach 2nd grade at Cloverleaf Elementary School! This year is first year teaching 2nd grade and my sixth year of teaching. For the past three years, I've taught 4th grade at Cloverleaf Elementary. While I enjoyed teaching 4th grade and will miss it, I'm very excited to begin a great year in 2nd grade!
I am a 2007 graduate of West Virginia University in Morgantown, West Virginia. Go Mountaineers!! While at WVU, I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Multidisciplinary Studies and a Master of Arts degree in Elementary Education. I am certified in West Virginia and North Carolina to teach multi-subjects in grades K-6 and also science in grades 5-9. I am very excited to continue teaching at a school with state-of-the art technology! I use various aspects of technology in my personal and professional life every day. I have a GPS in my car to help me explore North Carolina, I frequently use e-mail and chat to keep in touch with friends and family from home, and am learning all about my smart phone and numerous "app's"! In the classroom, my technology strategies include using Senteo SmartResponse quizzes to help both students and myself monitor understanding of concepts, playing educational online games, and modeling appropriate online research skills for students to then use on their own projects. Throughout the year, interactive learning opportunities with various forms of technology abound & there is rarely a moment when some form of technology is not being utilized. As you can see, technology plays a large role in my daily routine and I try to incorporate it in the classroom as much as possible to enhance student learning.
If you have any questions, comments or concerns (or if you see a typo/broken link on any of my classroom pages), please e-mail me and I will respond in a timely manner. Thanks!
