Getting to Know Mrs. Yerger
My name is Jolene Yerger and I am thrilled to be your child’s Fourth Grade teacher at Coddle Creek this year! I am originally from Pottstown, Pennsylvania. I attended Millersville University, where I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education. I also attended Kutztown University’s Graduate School, where I completed several courses towards a Reading Specialty certificate. I am currently enrolled at Gardner-Webb University, where I am working toward my Masters in Elementary Education. I am looking forward to graduating this coming May 2013!!!
I am the proud wife to my husband, Brian and proud mom to my children, Madeline, age 11 and Brian, Jr., age 7. Maddie is a 6th grader at Brawley Middle School this year...eventhough I can't believe she is in 6th grade already!?! Brian is a happy-go-lucky second grader this year and loves being a Coddle Creek Coyote!!!
I moved to Mooresville in 2006, due to a job relocation on my husband’s part. Brian is a Fabrication Manager with Penske Racing, Inc, and in 2006, the company relocated his department here. Although, it was very difficult to leave all of our friends and family in Pennsylvania, we are quite happy with our new “home.”
While living in Pennsylvania, I taught for seven years. After the birth of my son, I was fortunate enough to be able to take some time off from teaching and be a stay-at-home mom….which I thoroughly enjoyed! But, with both of my children now attending school full-time, I am elated to be back in the classroom as well!
When I am not at school, you can usually find me on the soccer field, baseball field, basketball court or the race track!!! We are a very active family...my Maddie plays Challenge Soccer, pretty much all year round. Brian plays three sports: soccer, basketball and baseball. My husband, Brian, drag-races, competitively. And, me...I run, literally:) I enjoy running...it helps keep me sane and in shape enough to keep up with my own children and the twenty-five I have the pleasure of working with each day!!!
Aside from being a wife and mother, being a teacher is just something that makes me complete. I love being in the classroom, and feel very fortunate to have the priviledge of being apart of Coddle Creek Elementary!
I look forward to getting to know both you and your child this year. I will do my best to ensure their learning in a safe, fun and welcoming classroom environment.
I invite you to spend some time in our classroom this year. I am a firm believer in open communication between the parents and teacher, so please, feel free to contact me whenever necessary.
