Hello! My name is Sara Collin and I am excited and honored to be the new Assistant Principal at Mount Mourne and Northview Middle, IBO World Schools.  I have heard wonderful things about the staff, families, and students, and I am eager to share many wonderful experiences this year with you.

I earned my undergraduate degree from Appalachian State University, and in June, 2011 graduated from Gardner-Webb University with a Masters degree in Educational Administration. I have been a teacher for Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools and Iredell-Statesville Schools. Most recently I had the empowering opportunity to serve as Instructional Facilitator for Lake Norman Elementary and Woodland Heights Elementary.

During the past year I assisted teachers and administration in the processes of an RtI pilot school and AIMS web screening, integrating teacher goal teams with the school improvement plan, and empowered staff members to make data-driven decisions to improve student learning. I have facilitated and planned Professional Development within schools on the Common Core State Standards, and am confident in my knowledge of the shifts required in teaching and learning.  I am eager to take my knowledge of curriculum and leadership and make a positive impact in the culture of a school.

I believe in the shared vision of continuous improvement, data driven decision making, and staff empowerment, all of which are represented by the Iredell-Statesville School District. The underlying question of “What is best for kids/students?” stays in the forefront of my mind throughout the day. The values represented by the Iredell-Statesville School district are in line with my own professional values:

Student and learning focus

Motivated faculty and staff

Partnerships and teamwork

Continuous improvement focus

Management by fact

Results focus

High ethical standards

In my spare time I enjoy walking my Boxer, Cricket, and cooking. I love the outdoors and am excited for Fall to arrive… Appalachian, Davidson and Panther football season! I am also enjoying time spent planning a wedding for March 2013, of which I will then be Mrs. Koprowski.

I look forward to the years to come as a Phoenix & Nighthawk! Please contact me if I can be of service to you. Thank you for sharing your children with us!
