About Me
Hello Everyone, Wow! Where should I start? Well, I am not a native North Carolinian. I was born in cloudy Syracuse, New York on June 4. I say "cloudy" because that's what the weather is usually like in Up State New York.
I have one brother, Russ, who finished his final year of college at RIT in 2001. He is a telecommunications expert. I guess that means that he likes working with computers. I could never do what he does and he says the same about my job. Maybe that's why we get along so well...we're so different!
My mom, Pat, is an excellent cook and baker. But most of all she's a best friend! We love spending time together. One of our favorite things to do together is visiting Grandma (Gram). We sit and have coffee and try to solve the problems of the world, or our family, at that time. We always have the most fun together. She is a great listener and I can always count on her to give great advice. My dad, Joe, is a blast! I like spending time with him because he is very easy to be around. We like to share ideas about inventions that we have thought of and do projects together. The project that I most remember doing with dad is rebuilding the floor of our 1972 (I think that was the year) purple Gremlin. We worked in the garage for hours and we were quite pleased with the outcome! Dad is a great friend and I can count on him to give me his honest opinion about things. I love them both! Mom and Dad are now both retired and plan on traveling our country for 1 year and then settle 4 houses down from me :)
The best thing that happened to me is that my best friend since the seventh grade asked me to marry him in 2001, and I accepted. We were married On July 6, 2002 in Syracuse, NY. We had our first child in December 2003, and we are very excited. Her name is Izybel and we call her Izy. Our second child was delivered to us on August 24, 2007 and we named him Owyn. Izy just adores him!
I have been teaching in North Carolina going on 16 years now. My previous teaching experience was at Cannon School in Concord. It was formerly known as Cabarrus Academy. I really enjoyed teaching at that school and gain lots of great experiences! I really miss seeing my former students, but some of us still keep in touch!
Wow, I have told you an earful, but I haven't told you why I became a teacher. Well, it all started in the first grade. I loved my teacher, Miss Phiefer, so much. She was always so fun and she always made us think. She always asked us questions like, "Do fish have ears?" and we would all think about it all day long! My favorite thing that she did was to ask us one day, "Who wants a kiss?" Well, all of us girls went running to her desk and the boys sat at their desks with grossed out looks on their faces. Then she did it...she pulled out a HUGE bag of Hershey's Kisses. The boys were so upset and she calmly said, "Let this be a lesson to all. Things aren't always as they seem." She inspired me to be that same kind of teacher.
