Welcome to the 2012-2013 school year!  We are 575 students strong at Mt. Mourne School, and our students are eager to get the school year started.  Mt. Mourne is an Honor School of Excellence, which means that over 90% of all of our students are currently performing at or above grade level.  With an excellent faculty and staff in place, we are poised for success in 2012!

 

 

I am entering my second year at Mt. Mourne.  I am proud to be a member of the MMS family, and consider it a great honor to be part of our team.  I have a vested interest in our school as a principal, and also as a mom.  My husband Mike and I have two boys.  Michael is in eighth grade at Mount Mourne IB  and Sam is a fourth grader at Lake Norman Elementary. 

 

I have an undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Georgia, a Masters degree in Educational Administration, and a doctorate in Educational Leadership from the Univerisity of North Carolina at Charlotte.  I have been a teacher, an assistant principal at the middle and high school level, and also the Director of Human Resources and Public Information for the Mooresville Graded School District.  I spent eight years in a central office position.  My experience as a district level employee gave me a global perspective of public education.  My experience in Mooresville City was followed by four years as principal at Lake Norman Elementary, where we continuously maintained Honor School of Excellence status.
