Schedule: Troutman Middle School's media center has an open, flexible schedule. Students are able to access the media center from 7:55am - 3:30pm Monday through Friday or longer if requested. In addition, the media center will close on A days during Discovery and from 8:00am - 11:00am on Friday mornings. MS students are required to obtain a pass from the teacher in order to visit the media center independently of scheduled class visits.
Check-out: With over 5,000 print and non-print materials, students and teachers at TMS have access to a wide range of resources. Students may check-out three books at a time for a two week time period as long as they have no overdue, damaged, lost books, or outstanding fines. Books not renewed or turned in by the due date are assessed a fine of $.05 per day. Reference materials may be checked out for three days with an overdue assessment of $.25 a day if returned late. Videos can be checked out for seven days and are assessed an overdue fine of $.25 a day if returned late.

Resources: The media center is available as a resource for book selections, research, AR testing, study area, and classroom. There are 6 computer stations for on-line searches, card catalog use, and technology created works (WP, Power Point, Publisher, Excel).
Technology: All TMS students are required to have an Internet permission slip signed by a parent/guardian before using any of the 5 computer labs in the school. Students may only use the computers with teacher/media specialist consent.
Mission Statement: The mission of the Troutman Middle School Media Center is to enable students to become information literate and effective lifelong readers. Students and staff will be provided with intellectual and physical access to informational materials in a variety of formats and media.
Middle School Media Professional Learning Community Mission Statement: As middle school Media Coordinators, we will teach the Big 6 process, promote the use of Destiny, and collaborate with teachers in planning technology based lessons in order to meet our goal of integrating 21st Century skills in the classrooms.
