• Dress Code Policy 2012-2013

    Uniform Dress Policy

              The school improvement team of TMS, with input from staff and parents, has decided to implement the following dress code policy for the 2012-13 school year:

    Bottoms

                Only acceptable colors: beige/tan, black or navy blue. No jean/denim material, sweatpants, loungewear, or gym shorts.

    -Pants must be clean. No rips, tears, or holes allowed      

     -Shorts (including skorts) must have either a 6” inseam or must fall to a maximum of 4” above the middle of the kneecap.

    -Skirts and dresses must fall to a maximum of 4” above the middle of the kneecap

    All bottom wear must be worn at the waist. Belts are not required unless student allows the bottoms to drop below the waist. No oversized pants are allowed.

    Tops /Shirts

                Students are required to wear plain (no logos) polo shirts or TMS t-shirts everyday. The only t-shirts allowed are those sold by TMS that fit within the approved colors. (No PE shirts allowed)   

    Shirt approved colors- light blue, medium blue, dark/navy blue, black, gray, and white (white is permitted as long as no undergarments show).

    -Shirts must be collared (unless approved t-shirts)

    -Must contain sleeves that cover the shoulder and underarm

    -Necklines may not be lower than 3” below the collarbone, with no visible cleavage

    -Both shoulders must be covered (no offshoulder shirts)

    -Must not contain any logos or graphics

    -No oversized shirts allowed

     

    Sweatshirts

    Plain sweatshirts (no hood, pockets, or logos) that are of approved color may be worn.

    Sweatshirt approved colors- Navy blue, black, and gray

    Jackets

    Plain (no logos) lightweight zipper jackets may be worn as long as they fit the approved colors. Heavy winter coats are not allowed in the classroom. They are to be stored in the locker during the school day.

    Lightweight jacket approved colors: Navy blue, black, and gray

    Hoodies

    TMS issued hoodies are the only hoodies allowed.

    Accessories

    -No open toe shoes and no bedroom slippers

    -Headgear: No hats, scarves, bandanas, toboggans, etc. may be worn in the building

    -Jewelry: No jewelry that poses a danger to students is allowed. Oversized necklaces, oversized rings, spiked jewelry, wallet chains, etc cannot be worn. No rubber bands can be worn as bracelets

    -No sweatbands are allowed

    -Piercings: Small body piercings are allowed as long as it does not pose a safety hazard to the student (i.e., large nose ring or lip ring)

    -Book bags/purses: Large bags are not allowed to be carried into class. Book bags and large purses must be stored in the locker during the school day. Small purses and small (10x12) drawstring book bags are acceptable upon grade level approval.

    The administration of TMS reserves the right to deny the wearing of any article of clothing or accessory, be it because of color, design, or fashion, if it is deemed to possibly have a gang-related meaning. Our goal is to keep all students safe and gang-related activity will not be tolerated.
