"Be prepared to see the world through new eyes."

A class where good behavior yields great projects.
You will "earn points for steps taken toward meaningful responses to visual challenges...
and no points for ideas not seen."

Click on Project Objectives tab to see where points can be "earned" for steps outlined on each assignment.  My Projects are graded on a point system and are not subjective...
  • In class, (usually within the first 15 minutes of class) I write on the white board, show examples, lead discussion, and demonstrate steps for students to follow. These steps (or OBJECTIVES) are to be written on their Rubric and followed as a checklist.
  • Once the Visual Challenge is proposed, students will research ideas and images that essentially combine to create a unique visual solution.
  • Students then draw begin planning via concept sketches on paper or on photos to share their idea with others. Once their idea is visible, this is when collaboration and assistance occurs among peers.
  • Construction will pursue and steps are made toward growing their concept into a physical reality.              Click here to view My Classroom Mission

Inspired by...
  • Natural and Organic Forms
  • Visual Quotes such as Paul Klee's, "Art is a dot that went for a walk."
  • Life Lessons found in books such as Shel Silverstein's, The Giving Tree and The Missing Piece.
  • People that call backwards steps "exercise."
  • Students that demonstrate a true desire to grow what they already know. Those who use constructive criticism for developing ideas and artistic concepts. Those who research facts, practice techniques, take risks, and have the confidence to combine newly aquired skills and information to reveal their unique inner voice.
