About Me
I was born and raised in Western New York; Clarence Centerto be exact. However, I saw a teeshirt and believe it sums me up pretty well. “I wasn’t born in the South, but I got here as fast as I could”. Never a day will I regret having moved to North Carolina. Keith, my husband of 21 years, is an IT Manager. We transferred with his company 13 years ago from Syracuse. My fabulous daughter Emily is a Junior at Lake Norman High.
At age 39, I was tremendously lucky to have been given the clarity to know that teaching is my thing. With an unused BA in Political Science under my belt and the patience of my family, I returned to UNC Charlotte and received my teaching certification in Elementary Education K-6 at age 41.
My need to learn is strong and drives my enthusiasm to encourage that same need in my students. The best days are when students come to me and say, “It seems like we just got here!” That means that we snuck our education in with things that don’t look like teaching and isn’t that what we would all want in learning? Does this mean that we weren’t challenged? Not at all! Most of us know that if we love doing something whether it be a hobby or a profession, it doesn’t seem like work because we enjoy doing it. We give 100%. My goal every day is to get your child to enjoy learning and that way they will give 100% everyday.
