Statesville Middle School Dress Code

In order to ensure the focus is on learning, students must abide by the dress code. This includes field trips and after school events. Special days will be designated throughout the school year as days the dress code will be slightly altered. For example: Weekly, we will have College days. Students will be allowed to wear college t-shirts. The college or university t-shirts must be the school colors of that college or university. No pink, No polka dots, No tie-dye, etc.

Statesville Middle School uniform consists of shirts of a specific color by grade level (6^th- Black, 7^th-Red, 8^th-Blue) and pants solid in color (tan or navy blue).  See below for specific types of shirts and pants.

 Shirts

Shirt Colors: Solid Black for 6^th grade; Solid Red for 7^th grade; Solid Navy or Royal Blue for 8^thgrade

Types of shirts: Polo or oxford style of appropriate size. Short or Long Sleeves. NO Sleeveless shirts. NO shirts with necklines that reveal cleavage.

Printing on Shirts: Only Statesville Middle School logo will be permitted on shirts.

Length of shirt: Must be long enough to not show midriff/ back when arms are raised. If shirt tail extends below the wrist with arms extended down by your side, then shirts should be tucked in.

 Pants

Pants Colors: Solid colors of tan, or navy (dark) blue.

Males may wear slacks or shorts. Pants should be appropriate size and worn above the hip. They should not reveal underwear, extra shorts, etc. NO denim (of any color). NO athletic shorts. NO Sweatpants. NO warm-up pants.

NO pajama type pants. NO skinny pants. NO stretchy material pants.

Females may wear slacks, capris, shorts, jumpers, skorts or skirts. Pants should be appropriate size and worn above the hip. They should not reveal underwear, extra shorts, etc. NO denim (of any color). NO athletic shorts.

NO Sweatpants. NO warm-up pants. NO pajama type pants. NO skinny pants. NO stretchy material.NO slit in the hemline of any skirt, skort, or jumper.

Printing on pants/shorts/skirts/skorts: NO writing. NO Logo. NO artwork.

Length of shorts/skirts/skorts: Shorts, skorts, and skirts can be no more than three inches above the knee.

Pants/shorts/skirts/skorts that are frayed or have holes in them are NOT ALLOWED.

Outerwear

Students may wear hooded sweatshirts or zippered jackets when they are inside the classroom. Hats, scarves, gloves, jackets, etc. may be worn when transitioning outside, but must be removed when inside, then stored in lockers. Sweatshirts or sweaters are the only outerwear allowed in the classroom. Sweatshirts and sweaters must be solid Black for 6^th grade, solid Red for 7^th grade and solid Navy or Royal Blue for 8^th grade. No logo/writing is permitted other than that of Statesville Middle School.

Shoes/Socks

 Students are required to wear shoes at all times. Shoes designed to be buckled, tied or otherwise fastened, must remain buckled, tied or fastened. If shoes have laces, they must be tied and be the same color.  NO shower shoes. NO bedroom shoes. NO flip-flop type shoes. NO open toed sport sandals (Adidas, etc). No Slides, NO mismatched shoes. NO mismatched laces. NO mismatched socks.
