Brawley Middle School Media Center
Debbie Farrell, Media Specialist
Welcome to the Media Center at Brawley Middle School. This is my 10th year at Brawley Middle School and my 8th year serving as your Media Specialist. I love every minute of my job.
I graduated from the University of Memphis many years ago with a degree in Secondary Education with a focus on Business Education. In 2008, I attained my Masters of Library Science degree from East Carolina University. I was able to complete my entire program online and have never been to the ECU campus. I passed National Boards in 2011 and was named Media Coordinator of the year for 2011 - 2012 for Iredell Statesville Schools.
I am certified to teach Business at the high school level, and, Business, Language Arts, and Social Studies at the middle school level. I am also certified as a Gifted Education Specialist and a Media Specialist at all grade levels. I serve on the BMS School Improvement Team, and lead the campus Gifted Processes and Support Team. I am also involved in the district Middle School Media Center PLC.
My husband, Tom, and I have lived in Mooresville since 1999. We have two daughters. Jennifer is a graduate of The University of North Carolina @ Chapel Hill. Go Heels! She has recently started working as a manager trainee for a sports public relations firm. Megan is a senior at NC State majoring in marketing. Go Pack! We are proud of both of our girls but worry when the two schools play each other. We know one child will be happy and the other one will be sad.
In March, 2011, we welcomed a new addition to our family. Daisy was born on February 5 and constantly entertains us. Daisy would love to be a student at BMS!
The Media Center is open from 8:00 to 3:30 every day. Students may visit the Media Center at any time with a pass from their teacher. Classroom teachers can sign up to bring their classes in for checking out books or conducting research projects. The Media Center is equipped with 25 computers and supports 4 computer labs boasting 30 computers each. Technology based learning is alive and well at Brawley Middle School!
