Battle of the Books 
Battle of the Books is statewide competition for students in Levels 1-3 (6th-8th). Students are required to read and answer questions on a total of 27 books from the North Carolina Battle of the Books Competition list. Team members for the school are selected based on elimination rounds held in November. Practice time is Monday afternoon 2:50 -4:00 in the media center.

SIMS ClubStudents will take part in the North Carolina Engineers program and will compete in regional and state competitions. Working with a local engineer as their mentor, students will use software to create a model of a future city to be taken to the competition. Meetings are on Tuesday 2:50-4:00 in Ms. Martucci's room.

MathCounts
MathCounts meets on Wednesdays from 2:50-3:00pm in Mr. Ernest's room.

N.E.E.DThe National Energy Education Development Project promotes energy awareness. Students will document enviromental/energy related lessons and activites throughout the year. A scrapbook of these items will be entered in the state level competition. No scheduled meeting times. Anyone interested in help should contact Mrs. Gibson.

Odyssey of the Mind

Odyssey of the Mind is an international educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college. Team members apply their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics. They then bring their solutions to competition on the local, state, and World level. Thousands of teams from throughout the U.S. and from about 25 other countries participate in the program. Meeting times and places are determined by individual coaches.

Spelling Bee

Winners from Language A classes will be participate in a school-wide spelling bee to determine our school representative.  The school winner will represent Northview in the district Spelling Bee.
