Due to budget cuts and the reduction of teacher assistants at Lake Norman Elementary, the need has risen for greater parent participation in the school. We are looking at new opportunities for parents to help students, teachers and the school to maintain the excellence we have grown to expect.

Lake Norman is a “Response to Instruction” pilot school this year and we are scheduling an additional block of time during the day for each grade level to focus and provide specific instruction based on student needs or strengths. Assessment data is used to identify the student needs/strengths and to plan appropriate instruction. This is our biggest area of need for volunteers at this time, but there are other ways parents can make a difference.

At this time we are going to focus on just 3 areas.
~ Lunch monitoring (timeframe 10:55-1:00)
~ Dolphin Differentiation Time (Response to Instruction Time-timeframe 9:05-10:50 and 12:25-1:10)
~ Clerical Assistance (any time)
You can spend as little or as much time that you can offer volunteering in one of these capacities. Training will be provided in each area. Please consider one of these as an opportunity to help make a difference for the children of Lake Norman Elementary.
