Mrs. Ireland's class will do our best to prepare for 2nd grade.
 
Our Classroom Norms
Safe - I will keep my hands and feet to myself.  I will always walk in hallways and classrooms so I can me safe.
Outstanding - I will do my best at all times so I can be Outstanding.
Accountable - I will come to class prepared.  I will keep my area clean so I can be safe and accountable.
Respectiful - I will follow directions and always use good manners so I can be Respectful.

      Hello, my name is Marcia Rash Ireland.  I live in the Cool Spring Community with my husband of almost 31 years, Mark.  We have 2 wonderful children.  Our son Marcus is 28 years old, and is director of sales and marketing for Deluxe Ice Cream.  Our daughter Marissa is 24 years old and married to Steven Ratcliffe.  She is a 1st grade teacher at Scotts Elementary. 

      I began working at Cool Spring August 1994 as a third grade assistant and bus driver.  In August 1999, I went back to school to become a teacher.  During those years, I worked as an assistant in K-4th grades.  In 2006, I graduated from Mitchell Community College with an Associate in Arts degree with a concentration in Elementary Education and then in December 2009, I graduated from Appalachian State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education with a minor in History.  Although this is my 19th year at Cool Spring Elementary, it will only be my third year as a teacher.     

      My goal is to make a difference in your child’s life this year while he/she is in first grade!
