  • 4th Grade Creative Writing Tempo Stories

Posted by Janet Berry at 5/2/2012
This week in music, 4th graders have begun a creative writing project using Italian tempo words. The five words for their stories are Adagio, Andante, Moderato, Allegro and Presto. While students listened to "Hungarian Dance No. 6" by the romantic composer Johannes Brahms they developed a mental image story to represent the various tempo changes within the piece. Students used the tempo words to describe movements occuring in their stories. The second step to this project is posting their stories on this blog.

Posted by Janet Berry at 5/1/2012
On April 5th, the 3rd, 4th & 5th Grade Chorus' sang the 3rd annual "World's Largest Concert". It was a wonderful success. With the theme, "Music Lasts a Lifetime", the students were encouraged to speak about how music has touched their lives and how they intend to keep music in their lives for a lifetime. The concert material this year included a piece in Latin, "Dona Nobis Pacem" and in Spanish, "El Vito". Other pieces of the concert included, "Discussion Percussion", "Rock Island Line", "Feel the Beat" and "Everlasting Melody". Also, of course, we sang our national anthem, "The Star-Spangled Banner" with the student body.
