Below you will find a list of all of our spelling words for this year.  Remember that your child will be tested on 12 words a week.  It it a good idea to work with 12-15 words a week to help your child learn to spell them all.  This method does not let students memorize a list one week and then forget it the next week.  By the end of the year they should be able to spell all of these words correctly.

Here are a few ideas about how you can help your child learn these words:
  • Comic strip - Make a comic strip using all of your words.
  • Type Them - Use a computer or type writer to type your words out, print them and turn them in.
  • Fancy Letters - Find a cut out the letters for each word in magazines or newspapers.  Glue the letters onto another sheet of paper to spell out the words.
  • ABC Order - Write all of your words in ABC order.
  • Story - Write a story using all of your words.  Please underline each word in your story.  Remember that a story should make sense and you should use correct capitalization and punctuation.
  • Sentences - Write a sentence for each word.  Remember to underline your word in the sentence.
  • Word Search - Create a word search with your spelling words hidden in the puzzle.  Then find your words and circle them.
  • Stair steps - Write each word starting with one letter on the top line.  Then on the second line add the next letter, and so on until you have finished the word.
  • Alliterations - "Tongue Twisters" write a sentence with as many words that you can that have the same beginning sound as your spellin word.
  • Colorful Words - Use 2 differnt colored pens to write each word.  One color for constants and then a different color for vowels.
  • Chain - Write each word on a strip of construction paper and then loop them together to make a chain.
  • 3 Times Each - Write each spelling word 3 times.
  • Picture This - Draw a picture for each of your spelling words.
