Homework Policy

Homework is assigned 2-3 days per week,  Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.  No homework is assigned on Thursday so students can prepare for tests on Friday.   Notebook quizzes are given every Tuesday.  Quizzes consist of 4-5 random questions taken "word for word" from the homework, out of our Language Arts Notebook,  vocabulary questions, and a grammar activity.  This method encourages students to complete homework and review class notes nightly.  Homework will be corrected together daily.  Corrected homework is placed in your student's folder and can be used as a study guide for our tests on Fridays.  Spelling assignments are given out every Monday and are due on Friday.  We will have a Spelling test every Friday.
I will accept late homework, but a point deduction will be made.  (This also applies to incomplete homework.)  I will assign one (1) extra credit project near the end of each quarter.  This is not mandatory, but will help raise report card grades.
PLEASE remind your child that it is their responsibility to see me for homework/notes if they have been absent.  Parents can always call the school the day of the absence and make arrangements to pickup homework assignments.

Classroom Rules and Expectations

Our classroom has just a few basic and simple rules.  All of the rules are based on common sense, courtesy, and respect.

1.     Come to class prepared - on time!
2.     Respect yourself, your classmates, and your teacher.
3.     No Talking During Class!
4.     Raise your hand and wait for permission to speak.
5.     Listen when your teacher is speaking.
6.     Follow directions.
7.     Stay in your seat unless told to do otherwise.
8.     Ask questions if you don't understand!!!

If your child should break one of our classroom rules, I will speak to him/her about the problem.  If the problem continues, I use the "3 Strikes and You're Out!" policy.  The second time a problem arises, his/her name goes on the board and the student will be moved to a seat apart from the class.  After the third incident, a note will be sent home, and I will request a conference.  If problems continue, your child will be sent to the Principal.
*A note about classroom tardies:  (This is a school-wide policy) Students will have 5 minutes to change classes.  If a student reports late to a class he/she will be required to have a pass from the previous classroom teacher or administrator.  If the student does not have a pass, they will be deemed as tardy.  Consequences for tardies are as follows:
one tardy = warning,  two tardies = parent contact,  three tardies = discipline referral.
