Ann Lackey Our Classroom Mission The mission in Mrs. Lackey's 8th grade math class is to learn the NC Standard Course of Study, pass our EOG's and increase our skills in mathematics. We will accomplish this by doing our class work, homework , Castle Learning and Accelerated Math. We will work together, be respectful and by doing so, we will be successful in our endeavors.
Our Classroom Strategic Learning Goal By the end of the year, all of Mrs. Lackey's 8th grade Math classes will meet or exceed the standards and essentials of this course as measured by 80% correct or better on each assessment. About Me I was born in Illinois and raised in upstate New York. I graduated from Penfield High School in 1983, S.U.N.Y @ Canton with an Associates Degree in Arts in 1985. I then graduated from S.U.N.Y @ Cortland with a Bachelors of Science Degree in 1987. My first teaching job was in Poughkeepsie, NY working with juvenile delinquents and high school drop outs. After I moved to North Carolina, I taught for eight (8) years in the North Carolina Department of Corrections. I taught students from non-readers to college courses. I then moved to West Iredell Middle School and have been here ever since. I have been teaching at West Middle for 18 years and have loved every minute of it. I have wanted to teach school since I was 9, so I am doing what I have all ways wanted to do.
I have been married to my husband, Hal, for 20 years and have two wonderful boys, Lowell and James. I am a HUGE fan of cows, and the Carolina Tar Heels. I don't know why I like cows, they are cute if you look at their faces, and well as far as the Tar Heels are concerned, enough said! Below is a picture of my hero, my mom. I am sitting on her lap! |
