History of TMS

Troutman Middle School started off as a high school. In 1966, the high school was  built and they put grades 9-12 in it even though there was a high school, our middle school  was still called an elementary school. In the early 1970’s, the elementary school was built and the grades 1-5 went up to the elementary school. And, then we became TMS for grades 6-8.  The Principal was Mr. Richard Mizes and the Secretary was Mrs. Parker.

For over half a century the facility now known as Troutman Middle School has served as an education hub. For several decades the facility provided the Troutman community with education for all grade levels. In 1966 South Iredell High School opened several miles from the area, and Troutman School became Troutman Junior High School. During the middle 1990's the school was changed to Troutman Middle School serving grades 6-8.
