My Classroom Mission

My classroom mission is to provide a safe and comfortable learning environment to promote a quiet place of concentration for all learners to excel. We will excel by mastering all Language Arts essentials with an 80% or better.

About Me

I grew up in a small, country town of Stedman, North Carolina.  Life then consisted of attending local football and baseball games, and traveling to the beach as much as possible.
My first experience away was when I moved to Raleigh, N.C. and  attended N.C. State Unviversity (Go Wolfpack!).  There I earned a B.A. in English Education, and developed a love for college football and basketball.  I am currently furthering my education by pursing a Masters in Education with a concentration in curriculum and instruction specific to literacy.
My first teaching experience began in Robeson County where I had the opportunity to teach ninth and tenth grade students.  After wanting a change, I moved to Iredell County in 2008 and have been teaching in this county ever since.  I began my middle school career at Statesville Middle School. This year is my first year at Troutman Middle and my experience so far has been great.
I love discussing literature with students, and watching students learn. To see a student achieve something he or she has never achieved before exudes excitement.  My other past times include: shopping, going out on the lake as much as possible, and researching bands that are upcoming. I love to attend concerts, professional and college sporting events of any kind, and traveling to different places. My most frequent and recent hot spots to visit have been Washington D.C. and New York.
