My Classroom Mission
Each student will have an understanding of the essentials of North
Carolina and United States History by using learning methods that work
best for them. Students will gain not only history knowledge but understand
how it affects their lives and gain understanding of how to use technology
to express and communicate the knowledge they have gain with others.
About Me
I am passionate about US History! My love for history began as I moved from one coast to the other as a child. I graduated high school in Colstrip, Montana from an American Indian School (as one of six non reservation students in my class). I earned my first Bachelor's Degree from Liberty University in Accounting with a double minor in Computer Science and Political Science. The experience I had as an Intern on Capital Hill during the Reagan administration gave me a love for our political system and an greater understanding of how it works.
It was after 9/11 that I went back to school and completed my teaching certification from Appalachian State University. I have been here at NIMS for seven years.
I have been married to the love of my life for 26 years. We have three great grown children, a son serving in local law enforcement, a second son serving as a local EMT and pursuing a degree in ministry, and a daughter pursuing a degree in nursing.
