My mission is to create an environment where students can learn the academic and social skills needed to be productive members of society. I will focus on reading, grammar, writing, and vocabulary skills to help my students prepare themselves to move forward. We will also focus on looking inward to have a greater impact on our world.
About Me
Hello. My name is Nancy Watts and I teach language arts at Lakeshore Middle School. The 2012-13 school year will be my seventh year at Lakeshore. I began teaching sixth grade Language Arts. This is my fourth year in the seventh grade and I am excited about what we will accomplish this year. I am looking forward to meeting all of my new students and working with everyone to help them achieve their potential.
I graduated from Concord College in Athens, WV in 1996 with a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism and Writing. I moved to NC in 1999 and worked as a reporter and retail manager before going back to UNC-Charlotte to receive my teaching certification. I joined the Lakeshore team in 2005 and am thrilled to work at such a great school. I just recieved my Master's in Middle Grades Education from Gardner-Webb University in May 2012.
I live in Statesville with my husband, Sean, and my dog, Sophia. I love spending time with my family and friends. I love animals and when I find time, I volunteer at the Humane Society of Catawba County. I am also very active in Relay for Life in Statesville. When I can, I also enjoy curling up with a good book.
