Current 7th grade Beta members please meet in the media center Thursday March 7th, 2013 to elect officers for next year.
8th graders in 2013 - 2014 school year may attend the 2014 Beta convention. Theme for next year's convention is Making History with Beta.
Due to changes in our grading practices, Beta Club is gradually being phased out at Mt Mourne. No new members will be inducted into Beta club.
Beta Club Permission Form 2013 ConventionStudent cost is $95.00 to attend Beta Convention (hotel room accommodations, registration fees, Beta Club t-shirt & dance) if your parent is driving and attending convention.
Cost for parent to attend is $60.00.
Cost is $100.00 per student if student is riding the bus to the convention. Students whose parent is not attending will be required to ride the bus. We are sharing a bus with students from Brawley - I will be riding the bus too.
A $20.00 deposit is required to secure room reservations. Students can turn-in their deposit now or anytime before Friday January 4th. We have a number of rooms on hold at this time and those signed up first to attend will be guaranteed a spot. Once these rooms are full, they are full. The balance due ($75.00 dollars or $80.00 if riding the bus) must be paid on or before Friday January 18th.
Students will need some additional spending money to buy food while attending the convention to purchase food on their trip. Parents are encouraged to attend the NC Beta Convention with their child.

BETA Broyhill Leadership Conference: http://www.broyhill-leadership.org/conference/beta.html Any current member of the BETA Club going into grades 7-12 may attend BETA BLC.
Time & Place of Beta Club Meetings:
Beginning this year, Beta Club meetings will be held the first Thursday of each month from 8:10 to 8:35 am in the school media center. If you ride the bus please come to Beta Club meetings as soon as possible upon arrival. Attendance is not required but recommended.
All Beta Club members are invited to attend Beta Club meetings in the media center the first Thursday of each month.
If school is canceled or delayed Beta Club meetings & events are canceled, to be rescheduled.
Note: Beta Club Membership is based on academic excellence and membership changes only once a year - after 1st semester grades are posted each year. Level 1 students (6th grade) are not members 1st semester but are eligible to join after 1st semester grades are posted.
Posted on a bulletin board near my room is a list of all current students eligible for (2012-2013) 1st semester Beta Club membership.
If you have any questions students please stop by my room.
Academic and Community Service Requirements:
* First semester grades average of 93 and above * No semester grade average below a 90 - all subjects.
* Level 2 and Level 3 Beta Club members need 5 additional hours of community service each year. Beta Club members are leaders of the school and role models that demonstrate leadership by example.
Membership:
Beta Club membership and eligibility is determined by a student's 1st semester grades and academic standing. Eligible students are invited to become Beta Club members after 1st semester.
Students that join Beta Club are members for a year (March 1st begins new Beta year / Beta Club year ends the last day of February).
Transfers: If you were a National Beta Club member at another school, your membership can be transferred to Mt Mourne School at no cost. Just let me know!
Induction: Date of induction Ceremony for new members will be decided after first semester grades. Beta Club Induction Ceremony will take place after all eligible students have an opportunity to join. When all Beta club forms, money and lists are completed and processed through National Beta Club, we will proceed with an induction ceremony for new members.
Note: Students are inducted into Beta Club only one time. If you were a member of Beta Club at another school, you are not eligible to be inducted a second time.
