EDMODO
Feb 16th 2012
The following is for those students and parents who are not familiar with Edmodo
Edmodo is a program which has been successfully used in the school over the past 2-3 years.
It is flexible, in that it can be used to post homework from teacher to student(s), send homework from student to teacher. Teachers are able to insert grades into an electronic gradebook , which will automatically inform students of their scores. It also shows which students have not yet sent in homework and sends alerts warning students that is the case.
It can carry full length written assignments which can then be annotated by teachers and returned to students. It allows students to write back and forth to each other regarding appropriate subjects. I encourage students to "talk" to each other on Edmodo about homework and classwork. It can be used for communications between student and teacher. It is a safe and closed system which can only be used by those who have been given a code to enter individual Edmodo rooms.
There is a mechanism to allow parents/guardians access to their students' areas of Edmodo, but only their own student's area. It is my intention pass on the access codes to parents in the near future.
My humanities rooms/pages are organized by the students' humanities block numbers.
Parents, all of your children are registered with the student code to get into their humanities sites. It may be that many students are also registered for a more general Edmodo page available to 6th grade students in Mount Mourne.
If you have any questions about the use of this site, please do not hesitate to contact me further.
