Area Advisory Council

Superintendent Brady Johnson has announced the annual Area Advisory Council meeting dates for the 2011-2012 school year.  Area Advisory Councils act as influential focus groups for the Iredell-Statesville Schools Board of Education and provide the board and superintendent with parent and community perspective and guidance on current issues and strategic planning priorities.

Five meetings are scheduled throughout the school district.  Meetings are held at each of the traditional high schools.  All elementary and middle schools that feed into the high school are included.

"The goal of area advisory is to foster open, effective, two-way communication and collaboration with parents, community members and staff, said Johnson.  "We promise to present timely topics of interest in a parent friendly, informal setting.  We will also include plenty of time for questions and comments," he concluded.

All meetings will begin at 7:00 p.m.  Area Advisory Council meetings generally are held in the school's media center.

The following dates have been confirmed for the Fall-Area Advisory Council:
     -  Statesville High School, Thursday, October 13
     -  Lake Norman High School, Thursday, October 20 (held in auditorium)
     -  North Iredell High School, Tuesday, October 25
     -  South Iredell High School, Thursday, October 27
     -  West Iredell High School, Thursday, November 3


The topics for the fall session include an update on the 2011-2012 budget and revisions to the district's strategic plan for 2012-2015.
