How often should I see updated grades for my student?

Teachers in grades 3-12 will post grades for assignments within one week of the due date for regular assignments. Exceptions include K-2 assignments, research projects and written essays. K-2 assignments will be posted at progress report and report card dates.

What does a grade of A, B, C, D equal?
A = 93-100
B = 85-92
C = 77-84
D = 70-76

When I go to the Parent Assistant website I receive a message stating that there is a problem with this website's security certificate. What should I do?
Click on “Continue to this website…”. This error is being researched but the site is secure and the error does not denote an actual problem.

My child attends a high school and they use period attendance. I can see the total number of absences and lates, but I can't see the periods that my child was absent. Is this normal?
No, this is not normal. It is a current problem with the software; however, the problem is currently being researched.

How do I log into the Parent Assistant?
A user name and password is needed to log in to Parent Assistant. The user name and password is supplied by your school. The user name and password are case sensitive and if forgotten, please contact your school.

Can I access Parent Assistant before I register my child at a school?

No. You must first complete the registration of your child at a school. You must also have a Parent Assistant username and password. The school can provide those to you when you register your child.

I do not have a username and password. How do I get one?
The user name and password will be generated at your child's school. Please contact your school to request a user name and password.

CUSTODIAL PARENTS

Parent Assistant gives custodial parents the ability to request changes online for certain Demographic and Emergency Contact information for their children.  In order to receive a Parent Assistant User ID and Password you will need to do the following:

1.    Have one of the following CURRENT VALID PICTURE IDs:

      NC Driver License, DMV Picture ID, Valid Passport

2.    Take this current valid picture ID to the school where your youngest child attends

3.    Ask to speak with the NC WISE Data Manager

The NC Wise Data Manager will use your ID to validate the data against the data on your child in NC WISE and if it is valid they will give you a document that contains your Parent Assistant User ID and Password.
 

Non-Custodial/Not Living With Student Parents

If you are not the custodial parent or you do not live at the same address as your child you will need to contact each school where one of your children attends and have them to create a User ID and Password for you in order to access each of your children’s data.  You will have multiple User IDs and Passwords you must use, one for each child.  Non-Custodial parents do not have access to demographic or emergency data on their children.  To acquire the User IDs and Passwords you will need to follow the same procedure as the one listed above for the Custodial Parent. 

My username and password are not working, what should I do?
You should contact the school where your youngest child is enrolled. The data manager or a staff member can confirm your user name and password and can reset it is necessary. You may be required to provide a photo ID for assistance with user names and password.

When can I access Parent Assistant?
Normally, Parent Assistant will be available 24 hours/7 days a week. However, once a month, the NCWISE site for student information that feeds information to PA is not available for routine maintenance. These dates will be posted to this site.

Can someone else gain access or change my information?
No. Each family will receive a unique user name and password. Please protect your information by not sharing this with others.

What do I do if information on Parent Assistant is incorrect?
Contact your child’s school to discuss information you believe is inaccurate.

Can I change my personal and contact information online?
You may request changes to your contact information within Parent Assistant. However, for address changes, parents must provide the school with proof of residency (current utility bill (cable, electric or home phone bills).

How do I log off Parent Assistant when I am finished?
Click on the "Log Off" button in the upper right corner of your window.

Will I be able to print out the information I see on the screen?
You may print the pages by using the “print screen” function.

Will Parent Assistant replace the need for parent/teacher conferences?
No. It is still important to meet with your child’s teachers.

Does it cost anything to use Parent Assistant?
There is no cost to use Parent Assistant, but you will need a computer with Internet access. Computers are available at public library branches.

How long does the current year’s information (attendance, assessments, grades, credit detail etc.) stay in Parent Assistant?

The same information that follows a student in NC Wise from year to year will stay in Parent Assistant. Credit detail will remain in Parent Assistant.

How long does a students' information remain in Parent Assistant when that student withdraws from Iredell-Statesville Schools?

When a student withdraws from Iredell-Statesville Schools, the user id for a parent would be removed and information can no longer be accessed by that parent.

Does the information for a student transfer when a student withdraws but stays in Iredell-Statesville Schools?

The information that follows a student in NC Wise will transfer in Parent Assistant also. The demographic info, emergency contacts, attendance, and credit detail will be visible to the parent since Parent Assistant is county based and not by individual school. The current grades and assessments will not transfer.
