FIRST Robotics is CCTL's sports team. The 2011-2012 robot played basketball and did gymnastics. Just like a race team, the Robotics team members worked in a pit area to keep the robot running throughout the events. We did fall off the balance beam a few times.

"The varsity Sport for the Mind," FRC (FIRST Robotics Competition) combines the excitement of sport with the rigors of science and technology. Under strict rules, limited resources, and time limits, teams of students are challenged to raise funds, design a team "brand," hone teamwork skills, and build and program robots to perform prescribed tasks against a field of competitors. It’s as close to "real-world engineering" as a student can get. Professional mentors lend their time and talents to guide each team.

Founded by CCTL, the Elemental Dragons FIRST robotics team is a 4-H club. We now have members from VPAC and CCTL. We are currently looking to expand our membership base to be more competitive next year.  We would like to extend an invitation to students who might be interested in becoming members. We build robots according to FRC specification to perform variou stasks while competing against and/or assisting other teams.  Our build season runs for six weeks, from January 5th through February 19th; we compete in April, 2103.

If you are interested in joining the Elemental Dragons, please email FIRST3680@roadrunner.com or contact our mentor, Ms Deal.

Science is finding out how things work
Technology is using tools and processes to make something work
Engineering is using what you know to design something to work
Math provides the formula to grow and drive the project

Skills we develop:
Think like a scientist
Build like a technician
Communicate like an engineer
Put in the right formula to grow in what you know
