Overview
Classroom teachers have computers in their rooms, but they have access to four computer labs as well. There are two labs in the media center (one on the main floor and one in the balcony). Another lab sits adjacent to the media center and a fourth lab is located near the gym. Teachers reserve the computer labs through a sign-up system in the media center.
Through a Technology Pilot Grant from the Iredell-Statesville Quality Department in 2007-2008, East Middle received funding for 6 demonstration technology classrooms that have been up and running since January 2008. EIMS seeks to create 21st Century Classrooms to equip the students for their future lives and careers. The demonstration classrooms are equipped with various tools, including document cameras, data projectors, Interwrite Schoolpads, VCR/DVD Players, and more. EIMS subscribes to Discovery Education, which provides curricular resources, assessment tools, professional development opportunities, and an arena for best practices of use of digital media in the classroom. Our KPTO has committed to fund a set of Student Response Systems for the 2009-2010 school year.
