The library media program at EIMS supports the Accelerated Reader (AR) program. AR is a reading incentive program designed to encourage students to read, based on the assumption that the more a student reads, the better he or she reads.
Students are encouraged to read a variety of fiction and nonfiction books, take computer tests to measure their comprehension, and earn AR points. Students with 25+ points "cash in" their points for prizes at the AR Bazaar at the end of each 9-weeks. Thank you to our KPTO for funding the AR Bazaar this year!
At the end of the year, we host a reception and awards program for all students who earn 100+ point in AR during the year.
The Media Staff works closely with teachers and students to provide a collection of high-interest, curriculum related books for our students. We have over 4000 AR tests, including fiction and nonfiction titles.
All AR tests must be taken in Language Arts classes.
