During recent years Iredell County has experienced an influx of people from all over the world. The ESL program is designed to meet the needs of all students for whom English is not their native language.  The Director is Dian Morgan and Joanne Marino serves as the State ESL Consultant.

Currently there are 2,076 Native Origin Minority Students enrolled in our school system.  These students are speakers of languages other than English, as determined by a Home Language Survey.

According to our most recent NOMS State Report  for the years 2005 - 2006, the students currently enrolled in our school system speak 45 languages. The total number of LEP (Limited English Proficient) students enrolled at any time or during 2005 - 2006 was 1,128.
