An easy way to remember the Big Six is to use the acronym "TILUSE":
1. Task Definition -- What Do I Need To Do?
Define the task
Identify the information needed to do the task
2. Information Seeking Strategies -- What Can I Use to Find What I Need?
Brainstorm all possible sources
Select the best sources
3. Location and Access -- Where Can I Find What I Need?
Locate sources
Find information within sources
4. Use of Information -- What Information Can I Use?
Engage (read, hear, view, or touch)
Take out needed information
5. Synthesis -- How Can I Put My Information Together?
Organize information from all sources
Create product or performance
6. Evaluation -- How Will I Know If I Did Well?
Judge the product or performance
Judge the process (efficiency)
