Summer Classes 2013
 
   This summer we will offer five classes staggered throught the summer.  Students may attend any one of these sessions that fits your family schedule.  Example: A Lake Norman student may choose to attend the North Iredell class.
   To register for a class you need to show up on the first day of that scheduled class.  No student who meets the current criteria will be turned away.
 
The classroom phase of Driver Education will be offered this summer to students who are at least 14-1/2 years old and entering the 9th-12th grade.
 

Lake Norman High - June 14 & June 17-20 & June 24-27

               12:00 p.m. -    3:20 p.m.

South High - June 17-20 & June 24-27              

                 8:00 a.m. -  11:45 a.m.

Statesville High - July 8-11 & July 15-18

                 8:30 a.m. -  12:30 p.m.

North High - July 22-25 & July 29-August 1

                 8:30 a.m. -  12:45 p.m.

West High - July 29-August 1 & August 5-8

                 8:30 a.m. -  12:45 p.m.

**Please note, due to the four-day work week, all classes will run Monday through Thursday unless otherwise indicated on the above schedule.
 
Driver's Education Fee Notification
 
Due to State funding cuts for the Driver's Education program, Iredell-Statesville Schools (I-SS) has implemented a $45.00 fee for each participant in the program.
 
GUIDELINES FOR PARTICIPATION:
**Students who pass the classroom portion of the course will be subject to the $45.00 fee.
**Students must pay the $45.00 fee on the last day of the classroom portion of the course.
**The fee must be received before the student can participate in the driving portion of the course.
**Payments will be collect by I-SS staff at the conclusion of the classroom course.
**Should a payment need to be mailed, please send it to:

NOTE:  INCLUDE NAME OF THE SCHOOL WHERE THE DRIVER'S EDUCATION CLASS WAS ATTENDED 
 
***Driver's Education is available to all students, only if enrolled in public, private, charter, or licensed home school within the Iredell-Statesville School boundaries.
***Non-public school students must take Driver Education in the school district that surrounds their school.
***The law requires students to attend 30 hours of class.  No absences, tardiness or early dismissal is allowed for any class.  You must be in class the full session to receive credit for that day.  Attendance isues/emergencies should be discussed with the teacher for make-up time and work.  This class is offered to students at least ten times a year.  Please select a class that works with your schedule so that you can attend all 30 hours.

*Students must pass 3 of 4 courses each semester in order to preserve their driving privilege.
 

After you have had your Learner’s Permit for 12 months you may apply for your Level 2 Limited Provisional License at DMV.  You will need-

 

1.         Your Parent or Guardian

2.         Your license fee in cash

3.         Proof of Insurance Form DL-123

4.         Official Social Security Card

5.         A reasonably clean vehicle in which to take the road test
6.         You may also be required to take another sign and vision test
