| Scholarship Search Engines There are many ways to finance a college education. Most families will attempt to find scholarships and grants for their children. The Federal & State governments have grant programs to assist children who have a financial need. Colleges & Universities have scholarship programs to assist children who excel academically. As a last resort some families may elect to take out education or personal loans. The first step a student should take is to complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). To complete this application you may use their web site www.fafsa.ed.gov and start the process. You'll first need a PIN for the student and a parent/guardian. The web site is fairly easy to navigate through. You can also look up the North Carolina Student Aid Programs at the CFNC (College Foundation of North Carolina) web site at http://www.cfnc.org/paying/schol/info_schol.jsp. If you have additional questions you are welcome to call the guidance department.
