French IV Objectives:

1. To recognize phrases which demand the subjunctive tense, and be able to apply the verb in the correct form of the subjunctive. (units 3,4,5 III)
2. To be able to compose a business letter with the correct traditional expressions.
3. To write a resume in French.
4. To differentiate between and apply “ce qui” and “ce que.”
5. To be able to tell a story using familiar vocabulary in the target language by looking at pictures.
6. To recall and differentiate between which verbs take “à” and “de” before an infinitive.
7. To correctly apply and identify the interrogative pronoun forms of “lequel.”
8. To correctly apply and identify the demonstrative pronouns forms of “celui.”
9. To identify and apply and the pluperfect or “plus-que-parfait” tense.
10. To identify and apply the past conditional tense.
11. To identify and apply the “future anterieur” tense.
12. To be able to read excerpts of literature in the target language, increase comprehension, and learn to guess meanings of words in contexts through surrounding context clues.
13. To learn the history of France, Europe and key French figures through excerpts and class discussion.
