Students must be able to:

 

  1. Perform and understand scientific investigations.

 

  1. Understand the processes that shape the solid earth: rock cycle, plate tectonics, and earthquake waves. 
  2. Analyze the sources and impacts of using natural resources and energy.

 

  1. Understand what and how scientists know about the geologic past.

 

  1. Evaluate processes in streams, oceans, and groundwater.

 

  1. Evaluate water resources and environmental issues associated with them.

 

  1. Analyze weather systems and how scientists predict the weather.

 

  1. Understand the consequences of global changes in the atmosphere.

 

  1. Examine what planets and stars are made of and how they move.

 

  1. Understand the tools astronomers use to study space.
