Support groups are designed to help students deal with issues that are affecting their lives without feeling that they are alone.  By participating in a group setting, students are able to be supportive of one another and to share their experiences in a safe environment.  All groups are confidentatial to protect the rights of the student. Groups are held in the fall and spring semesters, during the school day, once a week for roughly 45 minutes. Most groups meet for 6 to 8 weeks and are typically held during WYN classes. Listed below are the groups that are being offered:
 
ADD/ADHD - For students who would like help coping with ADHD/ADD related issues.
 
Anger Management - For students who would like to learn techniques to identify anger producing triggers, as well as problem-solving skills that are helpful in de-escalating anger.

 

Bullies Beware - For students who are bullied and would like to learn how to identify types of bullying, as well
appropriate way to handle bullying behaviors.

 

Concerned Others - For students who have concerns about a friend or family member’s drug or alcohol use.

 

Friendship - For students who would like to develop better friendship making skills/social skills.

 

Grief/Loss - For students who have recently experienced the death of someone close to them.

 

Images - For students who would like to develop a more positive and healthy self-concept.

 

KIDS - For students whose parents have recently divorced, separated, or have a new step-parent.

 

New Students - For students who are new to Mooresville area and would like to meet new people.

 

Stress Busters - For students wanting to learn how to deal with stress and anxiety.

 
The Group - For students who have made the decision to be drug and alcohol free.

 

Insight - For students affected by substance abuse problems and want to learn more about the harmful effects of
alcohol and/or drugs.
